Resident-Centred Approach
Our approach is shaped by hands-on experience working alongside care teams and residents in a real retirement living environment, through our sister company, L’Chaim Retirement Homes. This close connection gives us a deep, practical understanding of the daily challenges faced by both residents and the staff who support them.
We see firsthand how cognitive changes, reduced mobility, and emotional vulnerability can affect a resident’s sense of independence, confidence, and identity. At the same time, we understand the pressures on care staff; limited time, varying levels of resident engagement, and the need for activities that are meaningful, manageable, and adaptable.
Our programming is designed with these realities in mind. Activities are structured to support autonomy, dignity, and purpose, while remaining flexible enough to meet residents where they are cognitively, physically, and emotionally. The result is engagement that feels natural, promotes connection, and brings moments of calm, confidence, and joy into everyday life.
How We Bring The Approach to Life
We have developed practical, person-centered activity kits for use in:
- Long term care homes
- Nursing homes
- Retirement residences
- Day programs
- Home care settings
We teach caregivers and staff how to confidently guide activities for seniors using our activity kits for those living with dementia, engaging 1–12 participants at once in real-life, adult-appropriate experiences.
The result? Care environments filled with movement, purpose, interaction, and a renewed sense of calm and belonging.

Real-Life, Adult Activities That Create Connection
These are not child-like crafts or time-fillers.
Each activity is rooted in real-world purpose, familiar routines, and personal identity.
Residents and participants experience:
- A restored sense of contribution
- Confidence in using remaining strengths and abilities
- Social interaction and shared enjoyment
- Calm, focus, and reduced frustration
- A genuine feeling of being seen and valued
This is what makes them meaningful activities for seniors with dementia, not just ways to pass time.

The Heart of Our Work
We see the person behind the dementia.
By honoring each individual’s history, strengths, interests, and abilities, we help create meaningful moments of connection, reduce distress, and support caregivers in feeling confident and supported.
This is care that does more than meet needs. It restores identity, dignity, belonging, and joy.

Testimonials
On behalf of the recreation team here at Chartwell Niagara, Thank You for spending time showing us how to put the program in place to best suit the needs of the residents living here.
The staff are excited to get started.
We love the kits. Use them daily and have found them very effective in reducing responsive behaviours for even our most difficult residents. We also have found them effective with our residents who have developmental disabilities I.e autism, down syndrome
The Montessori Implementation Workshop was quick and easy. The presenter did and excellent job explaining the approach and how to use the activities. The Montessori kits are easy to use and worked beautifully with person I’m caring for. She stays busy for longer periods of time and that gives me more time to do other duties.
